Can someone please clarify which rule requires this ?? Surely not the one 
requiring all appeals to be "verified" !!!

PRESS RELEASE

The Central Information Commission formally launched its online portal 
dedicating it to the citizens for online filing of complainant/appeals. Sri 
Wajahat Habibullah, Chief Information
Commissioner executed the launch in the presence of Secretary, DOPT, DG, NIC, 
representative of the DIT and the Information Commissioners, at the Conference 
Hall of RVNL, August Kranti Bhawan, New Delhi.

It is stated that the web enabled solution is simple to use helping citizens to 
file Complaints/Appeal anytime and anywhere. A choice is made available to the 
visitor either to submit the form at one go or save the form as a draft mode 
for final submission at a later
date. Once it is finally submitted, the complainant/appellant is prompted by 
the system to take a print out of the filled form, sign the form and send the 
signed form to the CIC in view of requirements of the rule framed under the Act 
for further processing of the petitions.

A formal presentation about the salient features of CIC Online has been made. 
It is impressed that the dedicated portal will serve the requirements of all 
three categories of the stakeholders –RTI Users, information providers and the 
adjudicators. The users not only can
submit appeal/complaints online but also can save the draft and update it at 
later stage. The stakeholders can track the status of their cases online 
without either having to visit the commission or having to make enquiries over 
telephone. The users can all the contents of a page irrespective of browser, 
assistive technologies and
the compatible devices. It is stated to be an important feature of the portal.

Sri Wajahat Habibullah, CIC while launching the portal stated that the the 
complaint/appeals can now be filed even by the visually impaired citizens 
without seeking any assistance. He expected an
increase in the number of complaint/appeals from Hindi speaking belt keeping in 
view its accessibility in Hindi as well.

Sri B B Srivastava, Secretary, CIC while welcoming the guests stated that the 
portal is an outcome of various inputs of all possible stakeholders including 
the CIC/Information Commissioners. The Launch concluded by thanking all the 
participants including the press
