"Veteran journalist and former Indian Ambassador to UK Mr Kuldip Nayar's RTIing has raised hackles at the highest levels of Government. The Govt is now planning to amend the RTI Act to prevent proxy RTIing by vexatious persons like Mr Nayar on behalf of foreign actors.
After being denied the 1962 Henderson Brooks report by the CIC, Nayar is fighting the matter in the Delhi High Court. Officials are concerned that Nayar's latest RTI seeking details of the 6 talks held in 1963 between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan has been filed on behalf of a prominent Pakistani political family to circumvent the stipulation that only Indian citizens can access the information in India Govt's control. The Pakistanis's have already provided their information to Mr Nayar. The officials also pointed out that Mr Nayar is parroting the Pakistani political line in his column in "The Dawn" a leading Pakistani daily.
