I am building an astronomical CCD camera where there are a number of
clocks that will be generated from a 8255 PIA on a PC proto-board, and
reads an ADC via the same PIA. THe clocks will be in the range 100KHz to
1Mhz. The PC will probably be a 486DX2.

I'd like some advice on whether to implement the clock control and data
reading using a RT-Linux task, or whether to write a special device
driver. I don't think it would be a problem for the pc to 'hang' while
doing a data aquisition read to ensure the accuracy of the clocks, but i
need to ensure that the 'read' is not interupted.

Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Callum
