I had a similar problem with Redhat 5.2. I just downloaded the entire RT-LINUX source
and it compiled
fine. I tried to identify the problems in irq.c but got lost in the details. it
looks like Redhat5.2 has modified
irq.c slightly ( or the RT-LINUX source that the patch was made from had been
modified) I would have to
go to the a linux source site and download the official 2.0.36 code to see who is
"right". Anyway just
download the entire source from the RT-Linux homepage and compile it. It will Work!!!!

Subject: [rtl] 9J and 2.0.36 - patch errors

We've just installed RedHat 5.2 and the 2.0.36 sources. Applying the
release9J patch file, the following errors appear:

  patching file `Makefile'
  patching file `arch/i386/kernel/Makefile'
  patching file `arch/i386/kernel/entry.S'
  patching file `arch/i386/kernel/irq.c'
  Hunk #6 FAILED at 499.
  Hunk #7 FAILED at 523.
Hunk #8 succeeded at 699 (offset -22 lines).
2 out of 8 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to arch/i386/kernel/irq.c.rej
  patching file `arch/i386/kernel/rt_time.c'
   ... ... ...

Two questions:

o Any idea why hunks #6 and #7 failed?

o Some hunks appear to be applied with no extra messages, while
others (see hunk #8 above) show "offset" text in parens.
        Is this OK?
