I've just installed Full Release 9J and make the test ... try to explain...

-In the makefile of rtl (In .../rtl)  you have to add a line to create the rtfifo
#0 used by the example (look the lines we create de rtf 1 to 4 and copy/paste
it)...
-Now you can do "make all" to create the rt modules.
-In .../rtl/modules
                insmod rtl_fifo    (or insmod -f rtl_fifo  if problem of
versions....)
-In .../rtl/examples/sound
                do make
                insmod sound

-and          cat linux.au > /dev/rtf0   to listen linus in the speaker...
