I have tried the releaseDpatch.tgz on a recent 2.2.3 kernel. After
patching, I find two rejects: a reject for the toplevel Makefile
concerning the version number and one in arch/i386/irq.c which rejects
the changes to the function do_IRQ. Both can be easily solved by
manually editing the affected files. After this the build completes
without problems.
However, when I try to boot the kernel, I get the following messages
(reconstructed to the best of my knowledge)
