Rick,

I had this exact problem with my machine.  What happened was when the kernel
was rebuilt it put all of the modules in a directory called /lib/modules/2.0.36.RTL1.1

What you need to do is move the /lib/modules/2.0.36 to a new directory and either
move or copy the modules in /lib/modules/2.0.36.RTL1.1 to the /lib/modules/2.0.36

With the modules in the /lib/modules/2.0.36.RTL1.1 the kernel couldn't find them.
If you watch your system on bootup it should show some errors about being able
to find modules or ksyms don't match and list modules etc.  Once I did this all was
was working fine.
