This is probably a question for a differnet group. If it is what group
should i be asking the question to?

I have RTLinux configured with all itmes to be directly linked into the
kernel, i.e. no modules support or modules and I do have TCP/IP selecetd to
be directly linked in with the kernel. I'm attempting to use the ping
command and keep getting:
ping: unknown protocol icmp

I looked at the System.map file and it does indicate that the icmp.o object
has been linked into the kernel.
Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem might be? Does anyone have
the source to the ping executable, can I get a copy of it? Could the
problem be that the network card may not be configured correctly?

I've also verified that the ne.o object is also linked into the kernel.
What configuration file do i use to setup the IRQ and IO address? I assume
conf.modules. ???

Thanks in advance for your help.
