As far a I know, yes. As for companies developing commercial products - that
is not restricted by GPL(?) ... Red Hat v6.0, for example, is selling in CompUSA
for >$50. There's nothing in GPL to stop you selling anything ... you just
have to pass on the open source code with unrestricted use: "free" means freedom
not necessarily financially gratis.
