There are some simple RT examples at:
http://www.realtimelinux.org/CRAN/examples/rtl_rtai_examples.tgz
One of them toggles an output channel on the parallel port which may
help you.
Also, there is a good section in the book "Linux Device Drivers" by
Alessandro Rubini that gives some information about the parallel port.
