Hi Everybody,

I stuck while installing RT-Linux. I thought i successfully installed by
following Till's instructions. But I saw some problems when i ran the
example.

I have linux-2.0.36.tar.gz and rtlinuxV1.2full.tar under /usr/src
directory.

It says, rm linux directory which i did.
and install the linux-kernel sources by,

tar -xzvf linux-2.0.36.tar.gz
and
ln -s linux-2.0.36 linux (which i didn't understand)

anyways,

than install rt-linux source by
tar -xvf rtlinuxV1.2.full.tar

next step is go to the base linux source directory

cd /usr/src/linux and Here is problem.

I need some clarification for the following points:

1- In the instructions it says. apply the patch by following the
insturctions in the README file of rtlinux...

Ok. Then i went to README file which is under /usr/src/v1.2/ and there it
says put fresh copy of Linux 2.0.36 in this directory under the name
"linux"

and cd /linux
patch -p1.......
and make dep zImage....

Problem is when I untar rtlinux, it has linux directory under v1.2 so does
this fresh copy that is talked about or i should go /usr/src and copy
linux directory to /v1.2 (which doesn't make sense)

also should i run this patch command under /usr/src/v1.2/linux or
just /usr/src/linux directory...

Thanks for the clarifications

Sincerelly,
Melih Gunay
