The latency to expect in this case should be within
several useconds and not harm your msecond stuff.
Inside our HD-recorder we do 4x48kHzx16Bit AUDIO(ISA)
+ 10MByte/s VIDEO(PCI) to SCSI(PCI). In this case we reprogramm
the PCI-scheduler on the motherboard to cut off long term PCI-burst
transfers. This leads to a slightly smaller total performance but
much lower PCI latency (needed for our too small VIDEO FIFO).
!!avoid this if possible, it has to be adapted to every new chipset!!

it defines how many cycles a PCI card holds the bus before it releases
it again to another PCI card (or ISA for what that matters).
