Hi!

I am trying to put together a lab for our students.
This lab should demonstrate realtime-programming. I want to use the
realtime mechanisms introduced by POSIX.4, such as mutexes, semaphores,
messagequeues, schedulers, interrupt handling, so the students can use as much
as possible of their expierences on other RT-systems, too.

It seems, that all these mechanisms are implemented by V1.3, but only some of
them in V2.0.
There is a RTAI-Fifo-extension which gives me semaphores in V2.0 and
in V2.1 there are mutexes already.

Now my questions:
What are the future plans for RT-Linux? Will there be semaphores (without using
the RTAI modules)? Will there be messagequeues again? - Are there any plans to
make Jerry Epplin's rt_ipc run under V2.x ?

Thank you very much,
Christian
