Almost anything will do. Look into
http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdwriters-1.8.html
for the list of supported drives.
IDE also OK with SCSI emulation, tried it myself on Mitsumi IDE drive;
a little anomaly observed that does not prevent operations, though.
