Well, I admit I'm a beginner and haven't touched RTLinux in a while.
But with that disclaimer...
I untarred linux 2.3.35 (into /usr/src/linux) and the RTL kit (into
/usr/src/rtlinuxV3.0.pre1). Then tried to follow the instructions in
INSTALL.
First roadblock: the patch file is not where it says to look. Found
it several directories down after some searching. With that the
kernel build goes fine.
Second roadblock: cd /usr/src/rtlinuxV3.0.pre1 and make. Results in
error message:
Makefile:49: No: No such file or directory
Makefile:49: directory: No such file or directory
Makefile:49: for: No such file or directory
make: *** linux: Is a directory. Stop.
That didn't make much sense. Stared at the Makefile for a while. It
looks like the "No" etc. is the leftovers of the error message at line
16 ("No directory for linux 2.3") that was actually meant to be
displayed.
I tried to figure out what it's trying to do but got lost entirely.
None of the filenames or pathnames bear any resemblance to anything
recognizable. For example, there is neither a /sys nor a /util on Red
Hat Linux. Was that makefile written for some other distribution?
How do I get to first base with this stuff?
