Hi,
at http://www.it-director.com/00-03-03-1.html you can read the following
statement:
"TimeSys claims that its Linux/RT architecture ensures that if a
single real-time process crashes, the rest of the processes, as
well as the kernel, will continue to run. It can also
incorporate a proprietary layer
called RTAI (Real-Time Applications Interface), which furnishes high
performance and small system footprint characteristics."
The part stating it is proprietary is FALSE. As the initiator of the
RTAI development, holder of most of its copyrights and still one of
those actively involved in it, I state, once more, that RTAI is as free
as the air you breath. It will remain
!!!!! A L W A Y S F R E E !!!!!
It is developped at: Dipartimento di Ingegneria Aerospaziale,
Politecnico di Milano (DIAPM, Italy) and it is becoming more and more a
joint effort with many other nice OSS supporters. Anybody can do
whatever (legal) wants to do with it. It is LGPLed to ease its use by
anybody.
Ciao, Paolo.
