I have a question regarding the scheduler.

Can any one explain to me or give me directions where to find the
following:

If I have 2 RT threads running at 2 different rates, how does the
scheduler controls the calling of my tasks at the right rate ... I assume
that it sets a sotf timer generating an interrupt or does it do polling ?

If you can place a timer card in the machine and program it such that it
generates an IRQ at a given rate, how does the performance compares to the
soft timer (rtl_make_periodic) in terms of load to the CPU ? Response time
?

Thank you
Michel
