The power for a serial mouse is supplied over
one of the control-lines. AFAIR you have
to disable flow-control at all and set
the level of that pine manualy.
You can also perform a mouse reset over
that pin: the mouse will send an "M" after
the reset, if it uses the Microsoft protocol.
BTW: is it *realy* necessary for your application
to process mouse inputs in hard real time? I doupt!
