Once again it all boils down to what you need in "real time" performance.

If you are looking to close a valve on a test rig after the timer times out
then.....OK

If you are looking to dump the fire suppressant (i.e. water, HALON, foam, etc)
into the grain silo 1 msec after detecting ignition then I wouldn't count on NT.

A year or so ago I ran into a "whitepaper" written by the Rockwell (Allen
Bradley?) dudes on using NT40 as an RTOS (at least in the spectrum of response
similar to a PLC's performance).  Their conclusion gave the OS a performance
rating equal to a PLC with an average 8 to 16 mSec scan time.

Just my 2 cents.
