Hello there,
I would like to let you share my experience on solving the problem "can
not mount the root file system".
My first compilation of real time linux did not select the SCSI low
level drivers correctly hence the file system can not be mounted at reboot
time. However, after the right driver was correctly selected and the
recompiled everything, due to a bug in the INSTALLATION (I think it is
make modules_install) those files are still maintained as old ones, but
not updated. They are
/lib/modules/2.2.13-rt2.0/scsi/... and /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.13-rtl2.0. After
manually copied those files and go to step 8 of INSTALL.phil (reboot the
kernel), the right scsi driver will work and hence the problem of "can not
mount the root file system" disappeard. Of course, after reboot the kernel
successfully and use command make install, files at
/lib/modules/2.2.13-rt2.0/scsi/ will be updated.
Cheers.
