Bad news: It sounds like a harddisk crash... It could also be a virus that
has abused Windows to get low level access to the drive, or an RTL thread
that screwed up the disk or file system drivers. The latter is rather likely
if you've been using the machine for RTL development.
If you can set up another system on a working drive, you might be able to to
analyze the problem more carefully, and possibly copy and/or repair the file
systems, or at least save the important files.

*However*, do note that in the case of a physical crash (ie a head
touched the disk, wrecking the surface) any further operations may
cause more damage!

If you have important data on the drive, it might be a good idea to consult
some company that provides data rescue services. If there is a risk that
further operation of the drive will wreck the disks, they'll disassemble the
drive and read the disks using special hardware. It will cost, of course, but
it can be a cheap way to save your *ss if you've been cheating with the
backups.
