we do have a bug in the ICMP code. I just reproduced it by pinging a RTnet box from two different systems. The first ping (even with "-f") always succeed, but when the second stations pings, the answer is send by RTnet to the first one! Whatever the reason is (likely some ugly race conditions), it may also cause your troubles. Will let you know when I found out more about it!
