Then I have started rtifconfig with the following line: ./rtifconfig rtlo up 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Try "rtifconfig rtlo up 127.0.0.1", and RTnet will automatically pick the required netmask for you: 255.255.255.255. This may sound a bit strange, it's due to the rudimentary but deterministic routing mechanisms in RTnet. We are currently revising this part, and this special "trick" will likely become obsolete (more about this after the Hannover Fair...).
