Hans and all, Thanks a lot. However it seem there are still some problems there to prevent it from working. could be the 3c59x-rt driver?
The output of the error infor is attached below. Thanks a lot, >===== Original Message From [EMAIL PROTECTED] ===== >Hello Howard, > >> This should be a very simple and straigforward goal. > >Please try the following commands in the following order on a freshly booted system with no real-time modules loaded: > >modprobe adeos >modprobe rtai_hal >modprobe rtai_fifos >modprobe rtai_rtdm >modprobe rtnet >modprobe 3c59x-rt cards=1 >/usr/local/rtnet/sbin/rtifconfig rteth0 up 142.104.107.48 netmask 255.255.0.0 After this command, I did a rtping to this address, it tell me no route to 107.48. by the way, I use insmod instead following this step and the only additional module is ksched_up. Also I use rthal rather adeos. I checked the route entries only one for destination 147.104.255.255 through rteth0 interface. so then, I do rtifconfig "down" the rteth0 interface. and use netmask 255.255.255.0 and do the rtifconfig up again. after typing, the system hand up. I mean the mouse is no response. and keyboard is no response. (I am in the X-gnome GUI environeent). any clue? there should have no difference between adeos and RTHAL for this, right? is the rtnet causing the GUI/some driver hanging ?
