I try to add a Gigabit Ethernet Card(Intel Pro1000) under Rtnet-0.8.0-test2. First I add a subdir "e1000" under the "driver" dir. Then I added a "makefile.am" under the "e1000" subdir. How to modify the "configure.ac" under the "RTNET" dir? and how can I get the "makefile" under "e1000" dir? I executed the "aclocal; autoconf; automake;./configure; make; make install" and got some wrong information. The autoconf version I used is 2.59 and the automake's version is 1.9. Is that right? Please help me and give the detail steps. Thanks very much!
Well, it is rather simple if you go the way I typically take in unkown
terrains: search for similar entries about other drivers in all
potentially involved files. If you pick eepro100 e.g., you will get
hits in configure.ac and drivers/GNUmakefile.am. Copy, paste, adapt, and
it should work. BTW, we are not yet using automake 1.9, the latest
version for RTnet is 1.8.5 - but this should not cause any problems. And to update your Makefile, try the autogen.sh script - works smoothly.
Looking forward to your new driver, especially as it adds GBit support to RTnet!
