Does rtping work? One reason could be some "smart" firewall installed on one of your hosts, not knowing of "vnic0". I typically run into such problems on my notebook when reconfiguring something and forgetting about this otherwise useful tool. For further analysis (I should print this on a T-shirt ;) ): try Ethereal, both on the vnics as well as on rtcap-exported tapping devices. RTcap can be controlled from rtnet.conf - as long as you selected it during "make *config". Jan
