Please have a look at the changelog entries between this release and
current RTnet. Then judge if it is really worth the trouble for you to
back-port all relevant fixes.

For PPC, I would definitely suggest to upgrade to a recent combination
of RTnet and Xenomai, also to be able to write your apps in user-space.
I'm not aware of pending issues of the mpc8xx_fec-rt driver, but its
maintainer is now working actively on Xenomai-PPC anyway, so you have
the best change to get appropriate support using that combination.

Beyond that common advice and actually independent of your version, you
may start analysing any issue by reducing the test set, e.g. by testing
plain RTnet without RTmac and RTcfg. See README.
