So the pinging works but I do find it curious that the time is >5000 us and very inconsistent (5000us to 6500 us). Should this pinging not me much more stable (and perhaps faster?) than that? Btw I did not have a cross-over so used straight through over a switch. The latter may cause above behaviour I presume?
