Typically (unless the difference is too huge), the kernel is orthogonal
to user land, ie. your distro. So you are free to stay on RHEL.

Check rtnet/Documentation/README.drvporting. Most of the work is
mechanical, but a few steps require code review (when it comes to
analyzing critical paths /wrt locking issues and potential latencies).
