...while we can skip the git part (though I strongly recommend using it
to keep track of your own changes), I cannot accept changes that are

 - not properly split up into functional changes (e.g. it's hard to
   review your work otherwise)
 - without corresponding changelogs (helps review as well and is
   mandatory to understand the changes also in the future)
 - without formal "Signed-off-by: Your Name <your email>" to express
   that a change is by you and you are authorized to release it under
   GPL
