It's more a Terminal thing at least on Mac, features of readlines or
not, and utf-8 or not.
On mine, Mac OS X 10.4.11, ruby 1.8.7, if I type in the Terminal, in
irb:
puts "Hello\010World"
it returns:
HellWorld
It works the same in jirb_swing, so I guess it would work the same in
Netbeans. The \b version does not work in any of irb, jirb_swing,
Netbeans.
That means they do not understand \b, but thet understand the
corresponding utf-8 escape sequence.
