This problem seems to be more widespread:
xx = "safe string".html_safe
xx.underscore
xx.titlecase
xx.pluralize

Each inflection throws the same exception.  Inflections should be safe
operations...shouldn't they?

(although xx.(upcase|downcase|dasherize) are fine)
