Honestly, I always see Ubuntu Server as a joke. I imagine it like
"Windows XP Server"... You should really be using Debian as a server,
since Ubuntu is not reliable enough for a server anyway (I know by bad
experience on Ubuntu servers in Locaweb)...

and I run ruby on ubuntu happily without RVM after I found out how to
avoid 'sudo' with bundler.
