Looking for an experienced developer who is comfortable with dynamic programming languages, web application development, and building clean, scalable, testable code. The candidate will be an active member of the team, comfortable contributing to design discussions, and reviewing existing codebases. It is expected that the candidate for this role will follow the developments within the Ruby and Rails communities.
Essential Technical skills: Ruby and Ruby on Rails Test Driven Design RDBMS - ideally Oracle and Sybase Javascript (at least familiar with AJAX) Markup languages (XHTML/HTML/XML/YAML) Apache Mongrel Preferable Technical Skills: Linux Web design (CSS) Source control (ideally Subversion) Experience creating GEMS/Plugins/Ruby libs C programming language JRuby Essentia non-technical skills: Agile development practises Web application architectures Preferable non-technical Skills: Experience within the financial industry, or a large international organisation Experience working with legacy database schemas, and deviating from Rails defaults where required Security and secure programming awareness Good English.
