Out of curiousity (and I can check this myself, just don't have time
at the moment), is it just if you do the request from a pop-up? I'm
just generalizing and wondering if it's best even in a non-popup
situation to hook onunload to be sure any in-progress requests are
cancelled.  I mean, that seems like the clean thing to do anyway,
but...
