Sorry, I can't read your tests. The first requires HTTP authentication, this one one you linked below is in Russian, and the page doesn't look as you described.
You may be correct by thinking about z-index. It's a funny beast, as the z-index is not global page level, but scoped hierarchically. I can't describe it well at the moment, but if you still think that's your problem, make sure you understand how z-index works.
