[Rails-spinoffs] Assigning value from a Ajax Request to a previously defined variable fails.

Hi.

I have this constalation:

var something;
new Ajax.Request("http://google.dk";, {
  onComplete: function(e){
    something = e.responseText;
  }
});
alert(something);
[/code]

This does not work! Why is that?
