UPDATE:

After a load of pain and suffer i solved Installing mysql5 client from
port

sudo port install mysql5

and re-installing the mysql gem with this options:

sudo env ARCHFLAGS="-arch i386" gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-
include=/opt/local/include/mysql5 --with-mysql-lib=/opt/local/lib/
mysql5 --with-mysql-config=/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin/mysql_config

Hope this can help somebody to save some hours of googoling.
