I don't know about those books, but if you want to learn online then have a look at railstutorial.org, which is free to use online, or you can pay and download the pdf and get access to other stuff. If you know about Ruby you likely know about rvm, which is definitely worth using with Rails. In fact I would say that it is obligatory.
