For apache:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.example\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com$1 [R=301,L]
For nginx:
#rewrites http://www.example.com/foo => http://example.com/foo
if ($host ~* www\.(.*)) {
set $host_without_www $1;
rewrite ^(.*)$ http://$host_without_www$1 permanent; # $1
contains '/foo', not 'www.example.com/foo'
}
