Hey Rick, they were installed automatically because they were thin
dependencies.
For example, the dependencies for 'thin' can be found by doing the
following:

gem dependency thin  # if it's installed locally.

or

gem dependency thin -r # if it's not installed locally.

I installed thin by using the following:

sudo gem install thin
