Ahh beautiful.. part of your code didn't work with the || = but I did
this:
@vars = {}
Model.all.each do |a|
if @vars[a.grouping_id] == nil
@vars[a.grouping_id] = {}
end
@vars[a.grouping_id][:"#{a.title}"] = a.description
end
