To answer my own question ... so for the next poor schmuck who doesn't know any Javascript ... Using firebug and the wonderful http://jsbeautifier.org/ to unminimize javascripts so that you can actually use Firebug to track through the code ... one discovers that the hide is going to hide: function () { if (!arguments[0] || (arguments[0].constructor == Number || ... }, The answer is that hide:function can take an arbitrary number of arguments.
