Funny you clearly had to google to find this user group and went to the effort of asking the question. I wonder what an SEO is? Anyway I started out by watching the screencast on rubyonrails.org to get me "excited" than I went and read http://www.humblelittlerubybook.com/book/html/ to learn how to code in ruby. And after that I went through the first guide on guides.rubyonrails.org. After than I thought I liked the smell of them apples so I bought the book http://pragprog.com/titles/rails3/agile-web-development-with-rails-third-edition . And since I've been building my rails apps for real life (tm).
I was lucky enough to have a brother who's very experienced in RoR development so he was able to guide me down that path.
