You want RVM. You can change not only your Ruby but also your GEMHOME. That 
means you can install Rails 3 in one install and never allow its gems to touch 
your Rails2 install. I installed REE and Rails3 for one installation and 1.8.7 
and Rails 2 for another. Works great.
