In so far as it is a moderately new development by people who have used other DVCS applications and said to themselves "we'd do it slightly differently". I don't mean to say it's necessarily any good... it may or may not be (fundamentally), and it may or may not be (for some specific situation). I have seen some reports from people whom I respect the opinion of, which say they like it, and it is good from their PoV.
