well no matter what the solution, it will always be "remoting" - the only way to not have this would be to unpack the guvnor war, and add in your app mixed in with all the classes etc (messy) - then it would be in the same app/process as Guvnor and you could access it in memory.
Other than that, it will be remove (even if on the same machine - unless we have some kind of JCR/JNDI thing which I don't know would do it). As for what there is now: yes webdav would be it. Making ServiceImplementation remotable would take a bit of work, yes.
