Looking at the state of core/compiler, I don't think you'll be able to 
develop on master for about a week or so.

My recommendation is stay with your current codebase, but keep your 
changes clean and isolated. then when core/compiler is working again, we 
can look at either re-applying your changes manually or applying a patch 
- which ever is least painful.
