Oh Ok, I get the point. The engine evaluates all the patterns when the current rule is being evaluated. And I have (!size(append(list, number)) > 0) on the LHS, and so the append function is being evaluated. Is it possible to command the engine to not check patterns of a certain rules or certain agenda groups.
