I believe it pulls from however your maven install is configured. Make sure you've got the M2_HOME env variable set and pointed to your maven install. And then it should pull from whatever you have in settings.xml in maven for your repositories.
I also have MAVEN_HOME set to the same path as M2_HOME but I think that was for a different project.
